Chinese Panda Costume
I was asked to make a panda costume for the winter concert at my son's school. I was given lots of wiggle room about what I came up with. As normal time was short and money even shorter so when I found the bright green festival costume at at second hand shop for $15 I bought it. I then made a pair of glove and a head for the panda. The gloves were exceedingly easy. I knew I wanted to use this particular black curly fur because its very thin and light weight and so its particually good for costume work. Fur gets heavy and ~very~ hot for the performer on stage. I made an armature for the head and then covered it with the fur, added ears and nose. The eyes can be seen though. I had to add a little rigging and some foam to make it stable on the head. Over all a simple and rewarding project.
