Labyrinth of Jareth 2009

I am starting to do more leather working as I go along. Here is one of my first sculpted leather masks.

I decided to make my husband and I new costumes for Labyrinth of Jareth a few years ago. It took me several years to complete because my personal projects are always getting back burner-ed. Also, I was having a hard time finding the fabric for my husbands coat and we can only attend Labyrinth on years that I am not working for the SF Opera. As a consequence this project has been in the works for several years.

This mask was made to be an exact duplicate of the mask depicted in the 2005 flier for Labyrinth of Jareth. It is made of hardened and sculpted leather, plastic jewels, a curtain rod, ribbon, a bishop form a chess game, curly raffia and acrylic paint. It took me several days of labor to create just the mask for our 2009 Labyrinth costumes.
