Bedouin Head Wrap

I made this for a friend for a Persian Nights event. Neither he nor I really know how to wraps these headscarves correctly and get them to stay on so I used the crown from a wool hat as a base to arrange the gauze on it. That way he could get it on without my help in the future. The drape in the front can be worn down or up for effect.

Its made from gauze and a braided cotton cord that I died black. I didnt find anything that said what the cord was really made from but it looked to be some kind of course animal hair in my research images. Maybe braided horsehair?

Much of the research I did online was of limited use. Many sources had modern garments made of polyester with glitzy embroideries. If anyone who runs across this would like to educate me please feel free to email me. I tried to duplicate the appearance as best as I was able based on the research I did.

Also pictured is the robe that it was designed to go with.
