Circa 1840 Dress

San Francisco Opera's 2007 production of Cenerentola for the Merola program was designed by Katherine Lussie-West. In this particular production of Cenerentola the step sister weren't physically ugly but had rather repulsive personalities. The dress was copied from one of Musetta's dresses for Boheme. The original Boheme dress was in blue/red silk taffeta and the one made for Cenerentola is in blue yellow taffeta. The triming and sleeves are different from the original dress. It was redraped from scratch for the new artist larger and more curvy proportions. The bodice is heavily boned and laces up the back so there is no corset worn underneath. The petticoat was stock.
