1840s Corded Corset

1840s Corded Corset

This is one of my failures. I had selected a harrigbone fabric much like a coutil. I was told in school that all harringbone fabric would be balanced as coutil is. When this corset was nearly finished I discovered that I had an exception to the rule. This corset looks fine on a form but on a body under stress all of the seams and busk "corkscrew" around the body. As a result I never finished this corset although it is a lovely start with all of the cording and spoon busk. Lesson learned; don't experiment with corset fabrics.
