Infant's Mourning Gown

Infant's Mourning Gown

I made this for my son for a Presidents Day event. Several of us where invited by a museum to dress up as if we where mourning the assassination of President Lincoln and lead a parade. Because I could find very little on what an infant would have worn I used some creativity. I made it to look like a long man's shirt with pleated front, plastic "jet" buttons, a band collar and finished the cuffs and hem with lace. The fabric is a black cotton pin wale pique.

This was one of those "I need it today" projects so I didn't have time to do much research. I say this because I don't want anyone to copy this without first doing their own research.
